Derailed

Well, the bus-and-subway strike is on. New York depends on mass transit more than any other city in the country, and this is going to be very bad indeed, especially given the timing.

The strike might last a while, as the two sides – the government and the Transport Worker’s Union – seem unable to do anything more constructive than to huff and puff and wag their fingers at one another. And as usual the ones who will suffer the most are the blameless working folks, into whose faces the weather always blows, regardless of which direction the wind comes from.
