There May Be No Heaven,
But We Still Have Noel

To all of you, Merry Christmas!

I know: after the rants I’ve posted here lately about science and religion, what am I doing offering Christmas wishes?

Without going into a long exegisis on the modern history of Christmas celebrations in the West, the answer, as I mentioned in a recent comment, is that there’s no reason that we can’t reflect on the joys of friendship and love and family and peace every so often, and Christmas is a traditional occasion for doing so. Certainly all of that is a worthwhile part of the Christian teaching, and well worth preserving.

So, yes, a merry Christmas to all. And thank you, one and all, for visiting, for reading, and for your many thoughtful comments.
