I suppose I shouldn’t be too tough on the old compulsive campaigner for other’s approval since it’s far more gratifying to know when to make your entrance than it is to realize when you should make your exit. What I find most surprising about this current episode of “Bill and Hillary” — oops sorry it’s “Hillary and Bill” now — is that unlike episodes past, Bill seems bereft of any political timing whatsoever. This is what Dowd does. Her past reflections on the Bush administration, particularly Cheney and Rumsfeld, make today's piece about the Clintons seem like a hagiography by comparison. Frankly I find it refreshing, living as I do in one of the "bluest" parts of the country, to see Bill Clinton mentioned in an unworshipful way.
