Sausage and Legislation

In an electrifying news item, we learn that Dutch scientists have announced a breakthrough that should remove any lingering Congressional resistance to US funding for stem-cell research. Here.

PETA leaders have said that, should scientists find a way to “grow meat” such that we’d never have to slaughter animals again, they’d get behind such an effort. Let’s see if they’ll now put their money where their collective mouth is.

Given Europe’s horror at the notion of “Frankenfoods,” e.g., genetically engineered tomatoes and the like, I’ll also be curious to see the wider European reaction to this bit of news.

    Best line of the article:

“You could possibly design a hamburger that prevents heart attacks instead of causing them,” Matheny said.

    I love it.
