    I wish I had more time to comment, Mr. Pollack, for I find your insight at The Maverick Philosopher to be insightful. I too would fall into the category of D1, believing that as a matter of law we should see all Americans as equal but understanding empirically that this isn’t true. The question is how one can realistically argue this paradox in the public sphere. It seems to me that any statesman has to be hypocritical about this matter and hedge somewhat. Which is fine, perhaps; as Rochenfeld said hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue. I guess the challenge for politicians is to figure out how to do this, which maybe requires FDR-like ability.
