Service notice

As someone who is very rarely unwell, it’s always a jolt to be reminded how debilitating a nasty cold can be, especially as I get a bit older. Writing seems to be quite out of the question this evening (indeed I stared at the page for a good two or three minutes just now just to assemble this sentence).

Back before long, insh’Allah.

Update, Feb. 10: Getting worse, not better. I’m afraid this must be the flu. Please browse our archives, or try the “Random Post” link at upper right. (See also Jacques’ most recent comment, here, on a world gone mad.

Your above sign-off, read in conjunction with your recent (Feb. 4) “I am no longer an atheist”, is very very alarming! :)

Not to worry, ch. Just a figure of speech. Thanks, though, for your concern.

  4. Of course it’s the ‘flu’, and worst of all, alas, it is Man-Flu, than which it is not possible for any female of the species to suffer more – although they are hard to convince!

Anyway, the essential treatment is a regular supply of cups of tea/coffee (delete to taste) delivered to your bedside with anxious, loving looks.

With a bit of luck and some basic thespian skills you can spin it out for at least a week! Good luck and get well soon!

    Thanks, David.

Your advice is sound all round. I would only add that I’ve also found ardent spirits to be of medicinal value. (Indeed, this turns out to be true whether or not I happen to be ill!)
