Colin Quinn, 1959-2012

Remember Colin Quinn? That Brooklyn comedian who was on Saturday Night Live for a while? I happened to be looking at Twitter just now and watched him destroy whatever was left of his professional life.

In response to the news that the majority of babies born in the USA are now non-white, he emitted this:

Just read white birth rates overtaken by other races in the U.S.? Please let that be somebody’s idea of a sick joke! #rightorwrong

…followed by this:

Nothing against anybody else but this is kind of..our country. Yes or no?

… and, fatally, this:

I’m not a racist who believes in white privelege [sic] but I do believe very strongly in white power.

Stick a fork in him.

LOL. Quinn’s just trolling. It’s what he’s known for doing on Twitter. He’ll say something outrageous and retweet all the negative reactions. If you followed him or looked at his past tweets, you’d know this. His career will be fine.

Well, we’ll see. If he can carry on without the perp-walk-and-grovel that has become customary in these situations, I’ll be surprised. (Manny Pacquiao is the current high-profile occupant of the thoughtcrime pillory, but I’m sure there’s room for Mr. Quinn as well.)

Well, there’s a chance he’ll have to explain himself, as this seems to be one of his more successful attempts at trolling. But did you notice that no news outlet has picked up the story? People know what he’s up to now. At one point he had a fake one-sided feud with Will Ferrell and HuffPo reported on it, then edited it after realizing he was kidding.

It does appear that you may be right, dave.
