You Didn’t Build That (Slight Return)

There’s been quite a ruction over Mr. Obama’s “you didn’t build that” remark. Are you one of the legions of his supporters who insist that his words were twisted out of context?

Fine, then. Here’s Jim Geraghty responding, point, by point, to the rest of that horrifying, deeply revealing speech.

I agree with all of this, but one small, OT gripe: “Would anyone argue that college dropouts Bill Gates, the late Steve Jobs, or Mark Zuckerberg aren’t smart?”

Why do people insist that Mark Zuckerberg is smart? He doesn’t belong with Steve Jobs. Even the stupid movie that tried to portray him as a smarty-pants had to show that his one idea was stolen from others.

  2. If Zuckerberg ain’t smart, how did he become so rich? Is being “clever with money” not some form of being “smart”?

Also, since he didn’t qualify for affirmative action (Jews were slaves in Egypt way before American guilt was conceived), how did he manage to get into Harvard?

Yes, Dom, I have to say: how dumb could he possibly be, given that he succeeded at such a high level, starting with nothing? He certainly has some pretty keen business acumen, even if nothing else.

I’m guessing that Zuckerberg was at the end of the line all throughout grade school when they lined up kids in alphabetical order.

Many years ago, our gracious host and I wanted to know who the last guy in the Manhattan residential phone book was. Nick Zzyzz, Malcolm called him up.

    “Hi! Is Nick there?”

    Click.

    The end.

I know someone who picked 867-5309 for.his cell phone number. He gets drunk dialed all the time. Probably the same thing happens to Mr. Zzyzz. No wonder he hung up.
