It is with deep sadness that I must report the death of the great Jack Bruce, who died today in England at age 71. He was a giant to me, and my heart is heavy tonight.

    He shares my birthday, albeit 14 years earlier.

    Whenever somebody with my birthday dies, I feel that prickling of the uncanny – though the coincidence, I know, is meaningless.
