Remains Of The Day

Here’s a nice item: an undercover video showing Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Deborah Nucatola, discussing availability and prices of aborted body parts.

I expect you will be hearing more about this. In particular, it will be of interest to hear from Hillary Clinton, who in 2009 received Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger Award. In her acceptance speech on that occasion, Ms. Clinton said “I admire Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity, her vision.”

Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, held some views that would, I think, be somewhat out of fashion today, but that doesn’t seem to have affected her popularity over on the Left. Some quotes from her:

“The third group [of society] are those irresponsible and reckless ones having little regard for the consequences of their acts, or whose religious scruples prevent their exercising control over their numbers. Many of this group are diseased, feeble-minded, and are of the pauper element dependent upon the normal and fit members of society for their support. There is no doubt in the minds of all thinking people that the procreation of this group should be stopped.”

“As an advocate of birth control I wish ”¦ to point out that the unbalance between the birth rate of the ‘unfit’ and the ‘fit,’ admittedly the greatest present menace to civilization, can never be rectified by the inauguration of a cradle competition between these two classes. In this matter, the example of the inferior classes, the fertility of the feeble-minded, the mentally defective, the poverty-stricken classes, should not be held up for emulation…. On the contrary, the most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective.”

The main objects of the Population Congress would be […] to give certain dysgenic groups in our population their choice of segregation or sterilization.

In fairness, I’ll admit it’s hard to rebut Ms. Sanger on purely practical terms (and I don’t recall her ever expressing an opinion on trafficking in human corpses). After all, it’s not as if she were a Southerner or something.

It almost seems like the Left is and always has been an ideology of death. Death of innocents, death of family, death of culture and death of Western Civilization. Maybe next thing will be their own blood lust and turn on each other since they seem bound and determined to kill. Sooner the better.

“After all, it’s not as if she were a Southerner or something”. Oops, I nearly missed this one. Truth be told, we Southerners do have in our midst some “elements” within our society that my Grand Mother used to refer to as “most unfortunate”. Or as our family genealogist would term them…”those whose family trees rose a long way before any branches appeared”. Mrs. Sanger might have been talking about these unfortunates…though some might even be cousins. The mere mention of such a thing would always elicit a “bless their hearts” before the speaker went on to say what she meant to say any way.

Not surprisingly, the “undercover video” (euphemism for a surreptitious recording made on false pretenses, illegal in many states, heavily edited, and unavailable to independent review) willfully distorts what actually happened.

As many medical facilities do, Planned Parenthood donates tissue for medical research, with patient consent, and with no financial benefit to either Planned Parenthood or the patient. As is standard, the provider is reimbursed for the cost to preserve and transport tissue.

Yet another completely phony right wing attack line gets ricocheted from one extremist site to another, whose credulous and excitable readers, incapable of basic research or critical thinking, accept it all as a priori truths.

As Winston Churchill said, “a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.”

“I’d say a lot of people want liver…”

    Munch munch. Sip.

“We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

Not sure what you’re saying is “phony” here. Certainly the revulsion a lot of people are feeling isn’t. But you wouldn’t know about that; you just don’t see it at all. Just a “right-wing attack.” It’s all about the team.

If I were a religious man, Peter, I’d pray for your soul.

Don’t even try to defend this. What Planned Parenthood did is no different than a hospital getting reimbursed for sending cadavers to medical schools.

James O’Keefe made a heavily edited, surreptitiously recorded video which purported to show ACORN workers encouraging prostitution, tax evasion, and other criminality. It was repeatedly aired on Fox News, uncritically accepted by right wingers, and was completely and utterly false. O’Keefe paid $175K to his victims after losing a lawsuit, and he issued a public apology. Same thing here.

Sneaking into someone’s office, pretending to be someone else, making a secret recording, heavily editing it, and maliciously releasing it with the intent of causing great and irreparable harm is not an occasional lapse by right wing extremists. It is a cherished way of life.

    This isn’t about the legality.

You really don’t get it, do you? Man, that’s sad.

I’d intended to stay as far away from this post as possible but … over on D&N I was reminded to take a look into David’s archives as I’d recalled a post David had put up back in April of 2013.

As I’ve left a comment over there I figured well, Malcolm’s You really don’t get it, do you? just might be more sufficiently explained with pictures.

Advisory !!! One need not click on the first link I pasted onto D&N out of David’s archives (with the exception of One-Eyed Moon Glampers) because the question Why This Method ?!!! only becomes apparent now.

Isn’t it a common approach on news shows, like 60 Minutes?

I’m not an expert here, but aren’t cadavers donated only if the patient (when alive, of course) gives permission?

Of course it is heavily edited. It lasted a whole meal at a nice restaurant. More than an hour, I’m sure. However, the complete transcript of the meeting is online. That’s not “edited” at all. You even have the waitress’ words, if you care for that.

Or would be, if hospitals crushed their patients to death with giant forceps, without their consent.
