Off For the Hols

We’re heading off across the pond for a couple of weeks to visit family old and new. Things will probably be pretty quiet here till the week of the 8th, but you never know: there may be reports from abroad. Feel free to browse our eleven years of archived posts (4,292 as of this entry), give the “Random Post” link a go, or chat amongst yourselves in the comment-section below.

Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year, to you all! Thanks as always for reading and commenting. May the coming year be a new beginning.

I wonder where JK has gotten to? He has appeared a time or two but then departed. Hope the VA is not involved.

Smooth-sailing healthwise and [98+/- depending on what I’m being asked to rate] my freewill decision making Whitewall.

    But thanks for asking.

Just that what I’m up to alot lately, being as I signed a non-disclosure … well, “normal service” should resume mid-March at the latest. As you note, I drop in as convenient but too as I’m usually pressed for time I hesitate to put any advice on offer to blogdom.

Besides, just as my taskloads were becoming arduous I emailed TheBigHenry advising him, “During my absence Henry, I’m leaving you [TBH] in charge.”

If you’ve the opportunity Robert and both SoD and Bob remain on the field … well, give ’em a Hello and a Happy New Year an’ all that?

  5. JK left me “in charge”, albeit without specifying to what extent. I guess I’ll just have to play it by ear (nose and throat?).

In any case, I did not inquire about the nature of his absence (and he didn’t volunteer the info) for fear that he might have to shoot me if he told me.

Hope all is well, JK. And don’t look back — someone may be gaining on you :)

I won’t “be allowed” to forget Whitewall. Matter of fact I can smell them ol’ jowls a’boilin down to the basic cholesterolly gelatinous essentials as we [figuratively] speak.

You’n me know of course but, I wuz kinda sketchy feelin’ about how far I should tote our ol’ traditions a’cause of our mutual ol’ friend’s [TheBigHenry] possible “overdoin late last” an’ the effects such traditions might have on his lower GI but, TheBigHenry what, me’n Robert just plain ol’ know down to our cartilages might, just be, a new one on you!

Happy New Year and God bless everyone here! Whitewall, JK, TheBigHenry, Malcolm, and everybody :-)

May all Deplorables be as magnificent in embedding victory into the unmoveable bedrock as you were in getting us through the “Slough of Despond”!

Started the day with church, we’ve had our black eyed peas and are watching the Andy Griffith Show. Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely start to a grand new year :-)

Hi Tina, same to you! Those stories from “Mayberry, NC” are timeless. We had our peas, collards and pork late afternoon. You might say we all “ate ’til we touched the table”. I’ll bet Malcolm doesn’t know his blog has been taken over by “high culture” :)

  13. JK and WW,

For your info, I loves me a ham ‘n’ cheese sammich, as well as bar-b-qued ribs dry (the sauce contains too much sugar). But I wouldn’t eat them black eyed peas. Don’t care for their singing.

    Happy New Year all y’all!

Oops, maybe I’ll just give the tablecloth a quick brush and put those cornbread crumbs out for the birds! Indigenous American culture (aka extended Appalachian European)is about as high as I can climb.

The Diplomad’s article was great. I’ve been reading him since before he admitted his name, and his take nearly always seems to meld with my own thoughts.

I’m not impressed with Schindler’s article at The Observer. Although I’m not a student of foreign affairs, I’m also not blind. I think the US has been wrong on Russia for a long time – if we had helped them defeat the Islamists in the 70s instead of foolishly backing the Taliban, the Twin Towers might still be standing, and two generations of Christians wouldn’t have suffered Islamic violence.

I see Christian Russia and the USA as a far more sensible alliance than USA/Communist China.
