Is it me, or does the Las Vegas shooting seem to have dropped right down the memory hole? We still don’t have a clear motive; there’s the laptop with the missing hard-drive; the time-line has gone through several revisions, and there was the very curious story of the actions of the hotel security guard — who was shot in the leg — in the days following the shooting. What’s going on?

    A deep, dark rabbit hole awaits anyone who looks too deeply into the abyss of this event.
    A good guess is that he was running guns, and using the casinos to launder money, and the authorities, or at least some intelligence agencies, or factions within said agencies, were keeping tabs on him. Then he went haywire.
    To me, the more disturbing undertones involve his father.
    The man was labeled a dangerous psychopath by the FBI, and yet escaped from prison and lived on the lam for 10 years. When finally apprehended, he was given a slap on the wrist.
    Many other odd details. No clarity in regards to any of it.

    But seriously now …

    By all the news accounts I’ve seen (which mentioned the gunman being an aficionado of cruise ships) talk of the guy’s girlfriend being a former citizen of the Philippines; I’ve often found myself wondering “specifically, which island”?

    The reason I’ve pondered this was because back in the 80s I *knew a certain American General was mightily mad (angry) when a helo attempting a landing on a “just emptied” rice paddy wound up stuck in the mud.

    The General doubly mad as he’d not been informed there was an *active insurgency thereabouts.
