Gestanken-Experiment

Thought experiment regarding immigration from “shithole” countries:

1) Think of a so-called “shithole” country, and one that obviously isn’t (say, Haiti and Finland).
2) Swap all the people, leaving all their stuff behind.
3) Check back in 25 years.
4) What results do we expect?

P.S. I don’t mean to belabor this topic, but the self-righteous spate of gleeful outrage over this alleged comment by Mr. Trump is more than I can bear in silence.

    Saudi Arabia

    Goes to

    Singapore

    Singapore goes to

    Saudi Arabia.

Now, suppose Lee Kuan Yew implemented the same system, only this time he is standing atop one of the world largest oil deposits, what does he do with all that wealth?

On the same subject. Part of a comment made on Diplomad’s blog last night–” I would ask someone if they believe that the poor, unsafe, corrupt countries run by dictators or kleptocrats are that way because of the color of the skin of the people who live there. If yes, then he or she is the racist. If no (the actual case), then what did Trump say that was racist?”

It has to be all about race or ethnicity only in the way the outraged need it to be.

Whitewall: Yes, clearly Liberia is worse off than America because they didn’t follow the Constitution that they adopted in full from America properly *. It’s obviously nothing to do with the fact that they had tens of thousands of years of divergent evolution.

    * But, apparently, America did, even though it’s been totally ignored since 1865 at the very latest!!

I’ve long upset fragile souls by asking them what would happen to the forlorn half of that island if Haitians were allowed to move en masse to the U.S. and Swiss immigrants with nothing but their clothes colonized the place — with no additional aid or investment from their homeland or anywhere else. In a generation, maybe less, Helvetian Haiti would have the highest standard of living in the Caribbean. It would be the gem of the tropics. And people know this to be true. Yet, they always lie to themselves and others. It’s so odd. In doing so, they insult man. What is more important for human success than human beings themselves?
