Well, your humble correspondent had an album up for a Grammy this time around: Borrowed Time (Tiempo Prestado), by guitarist Steve Khan, which was nominated in the Best Latin Jazz Album category — but the award went to another outstanding artist, Paquito D’Rivera.
Sorry Steve! We’ll get ’em next time.

Well, you might not have won but I’m still happy that I can proudly tell folk that I know someone who was nominated for a Grammy! More than once… How many times has it been?
Hi Bob!
Well, the best one for an engineer is being nominated in the “Best Engineered Album” category; I had that honor in 2004. This is the first album I’ve done to be nominated in one of the musical categories since they changed the rules a while back to award Grammies to the engineers as well; they used to go just to the artists and producers.
So two, at least. I’m pretty sure I worked on other records back in the old days that were nominated, or perhaps even won, but frankly I can’t recall.
