Though I am languishing on vacation and producing next to nothing (aside from an efflorescence of unshaven whiskers that a friend referred to yesterday as “beach fuzz”), our friend H. Jeffery Hodges, the Gypsy Scholar, has been doing exactly the opposite, offering some excellent posts on a variety of consequential topics. Here, here, here, and here.
As an otiose co-worker from my railroad days used to say (leaning on his shovel as I toiled with a pickaxe), it’s a pleasure to watch a good man work.

I read with interest your reference to “our friend Jefferey Hodges,” for he not only has a name similar to my own, he even seems to be putting up some interesting posts.
And all this time, I’ve just been lazily channeling my family’s vacation in the Ozarks . . .

Good Lord, Jeffery, I’ve done it yet again. I don’t know what it is about that name of yours that makes it so doggone hard to type correctly.
I have made the necessary correction. Do forgive me.
How do you feel about the name “Ed”?
As in short for “Editor”?
Jeffery Hodges
