    I remember watching this a little while ago, and only one thought came to my mind:

    “If they really wanted to encourage people to go up the stairs, why don’t they just shut off the escalator?”

    Furthermore, I’m sure the musical addition renders two annoyances to the average stranger: A) a most likely dissonant loud noise B) a larger flow of traffic with everyone focused on making sounds rather than moving along with their day.

    That being said, I wish they would do this at the 7th ave. station.
