  1. I had no idea that Mr. Mangan looked like Dr. Drew.

I thought for sure that dude would have fangs. I guess you can’t judge a cover by it’s book.

  4. Generation gap! Dr. Drew Pinsky is an internist and addiction medicine specialist who has gained popularity for his participation on the radio and TV versions of a show called “Loveline,” which normally involves teens and 20-somethings calling in to discuss various sexual problems.

Dr. Drew was paired up with comedian Adam Carolla; you can guess which of the two played the straight man and which actually offered substantive sex advice. Carolla would sometimes ruthlessly mock the callers, but from what I remember, the callers tended to be very good sports about the abuse.

I learned a lot of stuff I never really wanted to know about things like penile and clitoral piercings from listening, on occasion, to the radio show some years back (usually while driving at night). I also heard many disheartening calls from people — usually women — who were suffering the aftereffects of rape or abusive relationships. 90% of Dr. Drew’s advice to all callers could be boiled down to this: “Go see a professional now.”

A quick peek at Wikipedia shows that Adam Carolla left the show, but Dr. Drew is still around, and still dispensing advice. Do a Google Images search on Dr. Drew, and you’ll see the resemblance with Mr. Mangan. Better yet, compare Mr. Mangan’s photo with this one of Dr. Drew. Uncanny.
