I’m recovering (with the help of Scotland’s amber restorative) from a weakening bout of periodontal surgery (my thanks as always, though to Dr. Louis Franzetti, who is the Jascha Heifetz of prosthodontics), and so am in no mood to write.
Go then, to Mangan’s, and read an interesting thread on the regrets of the dying. (I’m with Dennis on this one, as on so many topics.)

I had my wisdom teeth removed just two years ago (when I was 54. I’m a dental late bloomer, still have two baby teeth). And just 8 months later I had an angioplasty/stent operation. I always tell people … the dental work was much more painful.
One word of caution. If they gave you pain pills, it’s easier to get “somewhat addicted” than you might think.
Thanks, Dom. I used up a sick day, took one Vicoprofen, and slept until 2:30 p.m. I’m sure I’ll be able to function normally enough tomorrow. (I got up to go to work this morning as usual, but it soon became apparent that it wasn’t the right plan.)
I’ve had so much of this sort of work done that I’m able to manage the pain-pill stuff without too much trouble — I might have one more today, and that’ll probably do it. (Swearing off booze would be another matter altogether.)
