And Now For Something Completely Different

OK, time to change the subject. It’s been a terrible few days, and everybody’s frazzled and cranky. (Why, if I’m not careful, I might even lose my cool.) We’ve had quite enough politics around here to last us for at least a day or two, I think.

So, lets see here… (rummaging around on desk) … no, that wouldn’t interest anybody… no, I just wrote about this a little while back… no, going to save that one for later… no, nobody’s supposed to know about that one but me and the team in Krasnoyarsk… no, that one would get me kicked off my server for sure… no, I mustn’t reveal this one yet, the world isn’t ready… no, Giselle would never forgive me if I published these, especially right before the big game… hmmm….

Well, there’s this: did you know that Wikipedia has a whole entry just devoted to Common Misconceptions? Very entertaining, and you might even find you harbor a few yourself. (I didn’t, of course, but you might.)

Here.

    Oh dear Malcolm,

I gave my students awhile back, a link to this website (for language instruction primarily). Most recently I asked whether Columbus’ voyages were avoided because of a “flat Earth” faith.

Please tell me Eratosthenes isn’t mentioned anywhere – my lesson plan is engraved in stone.

Well, since my lesson plan’s shattered like slate attacked by a geology hammer – allow me to introduce how doggone warm it’s getting.

I heard about it from one of the kids, who I think may have seen it there also.

JK, allow me to introduce meteorologist Joe Bastardi, and his weather wager.
