Here you have it, from Stephen Hawking:
“I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.”

Maybe the excerpt you chose is a downer for many people, Mal.
But the quote that speaks to me is, “We should seek the greatest value of our action.”
I have formulated a similar guideline for my own life: “Live each day as if you’ll never relive it.”
We have a popular comedian ‘over here’ whose final catch phrase is, “Live every day as though it were your last – because one day it will be”!
Of course, this doesn’t apply to me because I intend to live forever, or, as I keep telling my son, I’m determined to be a burden. I won’t tell you his reply!
