There’s a buzz going round that the boffins at LHC may have found the Higgs boson.

    Just in case I was too obscure . . . I was alluding to Lewis Carroll’s poem “The Hunting of the Snark“:

    “He had softly and suddenly vanished away

    For the Snark was a Boojum, you see.”

    There’s actually no boson in the poem at all . . . or one’s never been found, anyway.
