I’ve been getting robocalls over the past few days for a “Draft Hillary” campaign. Mounting a primary opposition to the President would be a smart move for the Democrats, I think, given how deeply Mr. Obama has disappointed so many of his supporters. I have a feeling Hillary would be a lot harder to beat in November then the incumbent would, though a primary battle in which the Obama attack machine trained its fire on a fellow Democrat might be more than the party has the stomach for. It would certainly be fun for those of us in the loyal opposition to watch those two flay each other for a few months, I have to say.
This could get interesting.

If Hillary mounts a primary challenge to Obama, I would be happy to kiss your buttocks in Macy’s window as the Thanksgiving Day parade passes by But it ain’t gonna happen.
First of all, not a chance this happens. I highly doubt that Hillary would ever consider a move that would require her to burn so many bridges. And a move that has such a low likelihood of success. Moreover, the people you mention who are so disappointed with Obama (myself included) were not Hillary fans beforehand and I see no reason why a candidate that had positioned herself to the right of Obama during the previous primaries would all of a sudden win the support of the left of the democratic party.
More importantly is your contention that this would be a positive outcome for the democrats. That makes the mistake of overlooking the incombent advantage that even unpopular presidents are endowed with. I could count the myriad of ways the being the incombent (even during these hate the insider times) is an advantage but better would be to recommend the book “The Dictator’s Handbook” which makes the ways leaders stay in power very clear cut.
All in all, it seems that you’re mixing your wish to see the democrats implode with what would be sensible for the democrats.
You may be right. I based my remarks on conversations with more than a few frustrated Dems I know who have said they were hoping for a Clinton mutiny. It gave me the impression that Madame Secretary could mount an effective insurrection. Also I don’t doubt that she still simmers at Mr. Obama’s cutting the line in 2008.
