Things will be quiet around here for the next two weeks or so: the lovely Nina and I are off to fabled Cathay, where our brilliant and beautiful daughter is teaching science at an international high school in Guangzhou. We’ll all be spending a few days in scenic Yangshuo, and the memsahib and I will have a weekend in Hong Kong as well.
I’ll post when possible, but I have no idea how often that will be. Meanwhile, I hope things hang together while we’re gone – no nuclear strikes, general disorder, declarations of martial law, or ruptures of the Cascadia Subduction Zone, which I still think is ready to rip.

Good opportunity to reconnect with your kung fu roots, ja? Have a good and safe trip.
Actually, yes! One stop will be the Wong Fei Hung museum in Foshan, next door to Guangzhou. Wong Fei Hung was my teacher’s teacher’s teacher’s teacher.
No stopover in Seoul?

Yes – we have a five-hour layover in Seoul, starting at 4 a.m., before flying on to Guangzhou.
I would have loved to make a day of it, but it was not in the cards…
Enjoy. One of the places I want to get to, but most likely will not. It will be a massive contrast.
What day in Seoul?

HI Jeffery,
We are here now. Our flight from JFK touched down at Incheon at about 4 a.m. (as I write, it’s about 6 a.m. local time).
Our 9:40 flight to Guangzhou has now been delayed until 4 p.m. due to bad weather in Guangzhou. We will be weary travelers indeed by the time we get there…
Sorry to hear of the delay . . . though if today were Saturday, I’d come meet you at the airport for a drink.
Have a good trip!
