Enlightened Statesmen Will Not Always Be At The Helm

I’m not one to wallow in salacious gossip, but when it comes to the detestable liberal jackass and odious sexual deviant Anthony Weiner, I’ll make an exception.

New examples of his dark obsession have just come to light, in a series of prurient exchanges between the disgraced former Congressman and a 22-year-old woman. You can read about it here.

We understand that in these interactions Mr. Weiner used a rakish nom de verge: “Carlos Danger”. (Two felicitous anagrams for this have just come to mind: Cradles Organ, and Rag Cleans Rod.)

This horrid little man is now running for mayor of New York City, and may even be leading in the polls. Mock him.

  1. Anthony Wiener speaks:

    “This behavior is behind me.”

Spoken with a touch of alliteration. But how far behind? Last November? Really? Less than a year ago? And just a year after the scandal of 2011?

    Let’s rename him: “Andhorny Wiener”!

We do. I’m just astounded that this is who we deserve, that’s all. That this man can still be a plausible candidate for mayor, instead of being shunned and reviled by all decent people, is mighty hard to accept.

If he had any sense of honor he’d be sitting in a dark room with a bottle of whisky and a pistol.

This is beyond farce. Any normal human being would be so humiliated that he would withdraw from the race in disgrace. However, given his proclivities, I’m guessing that Weiner will stick it out.

I’m very glad you agree, Peter. I never know what to expect from you; I thought you might present the sex-life-has-nothing-to-do-with-politics defense, which is already making the rounds in certain quarters.

I think that private sexual behavior has nothing, or at least very little, to do with politics. I really don’t care if Bill Clinton has a fondness for big hair women or David Vitter has a fondness for Huggies. Being a priapic President or a sinning Senator says little about the ability to effectively and wisely use political power.

However, in this case, it’s not the sex, it’s the stupidity. Some behavior is so mind-numbingly bone-headed, and shows such utter lack of judgment, that it disqualifies the individual – whether it is Weiner, Spitzer, or the bus driver who practiced self-love in Lincoln Tunnel traffic (although it’s always nice to see someone take a hands-on and results-oriented approach to his work).

Someone who exhibits reckless sexual behavior – whether it is Lord Profumo consorting with Christine Keeler, or Mark Foley getting to the bottom of a page – shows an inability to think and act in a level-headed way, which should be a career ender. It’s the recklessness, and not the sex itself, which is the problem.

It’s both, in my view. I have rather old-fashioned views about character, honesty, and marital fidelity. If we don’t shame people for this sort of thing, the whole society rots.

But yes, I quite agree: while I have loathed the bullying and narcissistic Weiner since the moment he first appeared on the scene, these shockingly careless indiscretions revealed such lewdness, dissolution, impulsiveness, unwisdom, and dishonesty that it sickens me to think that any of my fellow New Yorkers would so much as share the sidewalk with him, let alone elect him to public office.

Some of our greatest Presidents – FDR, Eisenhower, JFK, and Clinton – were noted horn dogs. Carter and Bush both had true-love marriages, but they were awful Presidents. Harry truly loved Bess and Barack truly loves Michelle, but I don’t think that historians would judge either President on whether their marital life resembled that of Ozzie and Harriet.

I completely agree about Weiner, and I would be against him even if he didn’t send salacious selfies. Some politicians combine self-righteousness with bellicosity in such a way that they are unfit for higher office. Anthony Weiner and Ted Cruz are two such examples. They represent all that is wrong with politics today.

    Anthony Weiner: what a putz!

Point taken. I would be laughed out of the HBD community if I didn’t acknowledge that the sort of alphas that make effective leaders are going to have access to a lot of females, and are likely to take advantage of it.

That said, I don’t think it’s asking too much for those holding high office to make some attempt at moral probity. The relative rankings of presidents notwithstanding, I can’t say that being a flamboyant “horndog” has ever done anything to burnish their reputation, and in at least one case — Bill Clinton — his licentiousness did a great deal to diminish it, and caused a great deal of public difficulty. (You can spin that last however you like — justified moral outrage or a partisan witch hunt — but either way, if he’d kept his willy in his shorts there’d never have been a problem.)

The contemptible Weiner, however, has absolutely none of the redeeming qualities that these other men did. I see that the Times has now kicked him to the curb; others, I hope, will follow.

I’ve been in contact with a friend and mentioned I’d “participated” on a NY blog – he ‘took a look’ I guess. I got a sort of “assist’ explaining why wifey might be “standing by her man” excerpt:

I suspect the answer is that Huma – Hillary’s chief aide – has confided a lot of Clinton family secrets to Weiner. If she abandons him, all of the dirt will be disclosed.

Huma has her own problems as well, like acting as a consultant for Bill Clinton’s Teneo company while she was working at the State Department – a big conflict of interest. Teneo’s clients include companies like MF Global, which collapsed spectacularly after Jon Corzine directed a lot of bad bets on European debt and monetary policy. I’ve long suspected that Corzine was relying on State Dept. information for making his bad bets, and State probably derived their information from CIA and NSA sources.

If that’s the case, it’s political blackmail in a Mexican standoff – Weiner vs. Abedin vs. the Clintons. Weiner is out of control, but she is sticking with him out of loyalty to the Clintons.

It’s no wonder that the Clintons said they didn’t think it was a good idea for Weiner to run for NYC mayor – without giving a specific reason about why it was a bad idea. But this was reported just a few days ago.

Well, I guess my “assist” had some traction.

The Clintons are upset with the comparisons the Weiners seem to be encouraging.

Boys? There’s only one way to settle this. Show everybody (‘cept me) your willys!
