Sorry to have been down so long… this post-operative experience is everything they warned me it would be, and then some. The deep pain, and the meds one has to take to manage it, are so disorienting and exhausting that any sort of serious thinking, reading, or writing are just impossible. (Even typing is affected — I notice that the letters assigned to each hand end up on the page in randomly shuffled order. It’s taken me about fifteen minutes just to type these few sentences correctly.)
Better by next week, I’m told. Thanks all.

Hang tough.
Knee surgery is kinda off the charts pain wise. It gets better pretty quick…and then much, much better over the long haul.
Luckily, you are not a Leftist. Because, knee-jerk reactions.
Glad to hear you’re on the mend! Take it slow and don’t hesitate on taking the pain meds.
Malcolm, you write because you want to, and you have something to say, and when you’re ready we’ll all still be reading. Nobody is going anywhere.
Get well, soon but take your time. You’ll be back, packed with ideas, confronting and sometimes disagreeable. I am getting my ammunition ready.
Easy come. Easy go.

Sorry I’m late to this but even so, thank God you have ‘Obamacare’ to be your aid and comfort at this painful time!
Er, sorry, Malcolm, did you say something, I didn’t quite catch it . . .
David Duff, that knife was not even sharp. We want Malcolm to get better, not sink into despair ;)
Thanks. I am getting better, and should be able to get back to writing a bit very soon, I think.
What a lot has been going on! None of it good, though…
Can’t have everything, Malcolm. :)
Easy does it Malcolm, should you say to yourself (having scrolled to the next to the last photo)
“Gee that looks familiar.”
It’s not actually. Different continent altogether. No quarry at all this time.
