   Thanks for asking, Whitney.

   Actually, although I made fantastic progress early on (I went for a three-mile walk just three-and-a-half weeks post-op) there are some complications: the new joint is a little loose, apparently due to a stretched or frayed MCL. I may have been too aggressive in my rehab, though all I did was “work through the pain” as everyone told me I ought to do. (We Hung Gar types are good at enduring pain for the sake of long-term goals.)

   I am now in an “unloader” brace for six weeks (five to go), in the hope that the ligament will heal and tighten. If not, I may have to have a re-do of the surgery.

   Needless to say, I hope that won’t be necessary.

   That’s a bummer. The success rate for repairing one ligament is very high. 2 or more gets pretty tricky. Just do everything your doctor tells you to do.
