Quite the firestorm of liberal outrage over that mass shooting in New Orleans, eh? (At a playground, no less.) We’ve hardly heard about anything else since it happened.

  1. I think the Left should adopt this song as their anthem: “You got to accentuate the positive; eliminate the negative; latch on to the affirmative; and, don’t mess with that which doesn’t fit.”

The effort seems to be to bury N.O.–no dead no cops– but direct attention to Minneapolis where we have the Trinity–pardon the culinary analogy–black victim(?), cop(white)?, now white vigilantes(?).

There have been 337 mass shootings in America so far this year, with a combined death toll of 431.

Why should one more shooting – which has not led to any deaths – spark a “firestorm of liberal outrage” or get any more media coverage than the hundreds of deadlier rampages?

It’s like asking why the biker mass shooting in Waco didn’t elicit a firestorm of conservative protest.

These things happen every day. Your suggestion is that liberals should live in a state of perpetual outrage?

The point is that we rarely hear anything about run-of-the-mill black-on-black shootings; they just go down the memory hole. (Far too routine, and they don’t advance the Narrative.)

If this had been a white person spraying bullets into a crowd of blacks, it would have been front-page news all week. We’d have had Obama lecturing us about gun control and America’s racist DNA, and Ta-Nehisi Coates keening about “shattered black bodies”. And you know it.

And since you mentioned it, we heard plenty from the media about that shooting in Waco. That one didn’t go under the rug, no sirree.

That would be a yes, seeing how most of them are dropouts from the School for the Perpetually Perplexed.

Neither black-on-black nor white-on-white homicide gets much attention, unless there is something unusually noteworthy. There are thousands and thousands of homicides every year.

When I go to the San Francisco Chronicle website, “Shooting in Oakland” is almost as common a headline as “49’ers blow another game and totally suck.” I don’t open either link. Tell me something I don’t know.

If a white person sprayed bullets into a crowd of blacks – and nobody was killed – I doubt very much that it would be front page news all week. This happened today (yesterday?). If it is on the front page in a week, I’ll knock a few dollars off the $85 payment you will owe me when Hillary makes her nomination speech.

I think your predicate – black-on-white violence is acceptable, white-on-black violence is an outrage – is a false one.

You’re dreaming. It would be a Very Big Deal.

No. Black-on-black violence is utterly routine, and so gets scant coverage. Black-on-white violence actually has negative narrative value, so it gets buried. White-on-black violence, which is far rarer than the other two, is media gold.
