Here’s a good one that’s been making the rounds today: Glenn Harlan Reynolds on How David Brooks Created Donald Trump. Money quote:
When politeness and orderliness are met with contempt and betrayal, do not be surprised if the response is something less polite, and less orderly.
Also, you may have noticed that our current president likes making friends with our enemies, and making enemies of of our friends. Here’s Ted Cruz on our new warm-and-fuzzy Cuba policy.

Barack and the Castro Boys…soul brothers. It’s 1968 all over again. Walter Duranty is not available for comment. NY Times will swoon in his honor.
Good one, Robert!
The money quote itself, however, is rather polite, which is a nice touch.
The Ted Cruz piece does have a Reagan like tone. Unfortunately, it will have no effect in DC. It took Nixon to go to China. Obama to Cuba is akin to “getting the band back together”.
I have to disagree with you here, Mal. Sure, I don’t like the Castros or letting them look good in any way. But capitalism is its own advertisement, and if it takes a different tack to let it flush the last remnant of Communism out of the Western Hemisphere, I’m willing to ignore whatever short-term thing there is with Cuba’s temporary leaders.
Antiquarian,
Well, in strict point of fact you are disagreeing with Ted Cruz, as I haven’t said anything one way or the other (although of course the natural assumption would be that my posting his piece amounts to a tacit endorsement).
I agree that there are reasonable arguments on both sides. What really bothers me is to see Barack Obama cozying up with his America-hating Communist soulmates, posing happily in front of a giant Che mural, and taking another opportunity to commiserate with an evil despot about our nation’s moral failings.
The apotheosis of our nation’s “moral failings” is having elected an America-hating President — twice.
