We won. Not the war, which is just beginning. But we won this battle. Take a moment to savor the victory.
Let us also praise two unlikely heroes of this campaign: Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham. Who knew? War brings out the best and the worst in men. I commend them for their valor.

It was a strange battle where Democrats played a make believe but bad hand against the very underpinnings of Anglo-American law. Our fighters took to the field and stayed on the field–Trump, McConnell, the newly liberated Lindsey Graham and even Judge K himself. Finally, Susan Collins, the warbling New England moderate, came to the floor at the end and put an exclamation point to the whole sordid affair. The protesting Democrats in the halls and streets and gallery were expecting the usual cave in by Republicans. No more.
