    To get hired as a TV reporter, one must be able to speak calmly and fluently, either from a script or describing events as they happen.

    I’m seeing a new phenomenon: Reporters wasting valuable airtime speaking nervously and haltingly, terrified of accidentally saying something racist, or something that might be interpreted as racist in the future. No matter your progressive credentials, the most immediate and abject apology will not save your career from a Tweet-storm of public outrage.
