Sorry (again) that it’s been so quiet here. I’ve been nursing this shoulder injury — due to insurance-coverage issues I’ve had trouble getting an MRI, and will end up traveling from Wellfleet to Connecticut next week to get it done — and although it’s been getting a little better, it’s still been uncomfortable to type.
I’ve also been rather at a loss for anything interesting to say. There’s a dull-witted lassitude that always affects me when the weather gets hot and sultry, and I’ve found that I’ve been feeling unusually tired since banging myself up, which is probably Nature’s way of telling me to take it easy.
I do have one post I’d like to write, which I’ll try to get up over the next day or so. (It’s nothing earth-shaking, just some thoughts about what’s happened all around us in the past few months.)
Thanks as always for coming round, and please do visit the archive, or try the “Random Post” link on the homepage.

You mentioned earlier in announcing you slipping and causing the injury you’d been to the ER. Now you say there’s “insurance coverage issues” [keeping you from] obtaining the MRI.
Of course I’m aware we live in different regions of the country but in every state’s ER system I’m [passing] familiar with, if the ER physician orders the MRI the ‘insurer’ doesn’t get into the process the MRI simply gets done.
I type with all the authority of being a doctor’s kid but something seems screwy.
Someone has been reading this blog….

Hi JK,
When I went to the ER at Cape Cod Hospital they told me I’d need to arrange an MRI elsewhere, as they didn’t do outpatient MRIs. (They had already done an X-ray.)
I didn’t realize that would be a problem.
Robert,
Yes, it looks that way! But everybody seems to be catching on now. (The thing is so blazingly obvious, after all…)
As Malcolm’s out of action I figured I’d do ‘a drive by’ of sorts. And actually Malcolm’s got a related post on what I’m getting at (somewhere) in his archives it’s just that … well I’m not sure exactly if it’s my memory of his post’s title or maybe something to do related to his blog’s (or more likely, WordPress’) glitch that caused “some changes” into how the Search function functions.
Anyway a big part of Malcolm’s earlier post had to do with this:

But now, as we all know, we’re onto bigger and … well ‘better’ definitely isn’t the right word so just decide which is amongst yourselves:
