“Shut Up”, They Explained

You may have heard of Abigail Shrier, who recently wrote a book, called Irreversible Damage, about the “transgender” mind-virus that has lately infected so many young girls. Her book has aroused a fierce reaction from the clerisy of our new official religion, who have brought intense pressure to censor and bury it.

Ms. Shrier has written about this in an article recently published at Substack. Read it here.

It has been said that a cult knows to capture young women first and the men will follow. Our ‘new religion’ is most definitely a very powerful cult.

I would note also that this essay appeared on Bari Weiss’ Substack, who is doing the Lord’s work in promoting free speech and debate from the Left.

What struck me is Shrier’s point that although job insecurity is certainly preventing individuals from resisting censorship over issues like youth and transgenderism (and is not to be pooh-poohed – no sane person wants to get fired), the more potent factor is simply fear. People don’t want to be out of step, they want to retain their good graces in “the Inner Ring” as C.S. Lewis put it. It’s easier to just stay silent when a dinner party guest rhapsodizes about how all Trump voters are fascists, or when a Facebook friend declares anybody who opposes gay marriage to be a bigot (the latter was a true life incident for me; in retrospect I wish I had linked to one of Andrew Sullivan’s essays, something which to my credit I actually did in a subsequent incident with somebody else). We should not underestimate the impact to others of simply tactfully but firmly publicly disagreeing with contemporary shibboleths, where one man with courage can truly make a majority.

To say: It is outrageous that tech platforms are censoring such debates and that some journalists are cheering them on.

I’m reasonably that certain that historically, the majority of journalists were in favor of censorship. In most countries nearly all most all the time, journalists worked at pleasure of the state or directly employed by the state.

The concepts of checks and balances by independent power centers and of objective, ‘scientific’ journalism being both rare and recent and restricted to small geographic areas.

You thought you could have freedom of [speech | assembly | religion | association ] and [ public homosexuality | feminism | socialism ].

You can’t. And the sooner we realize it, the better a society we can build.

Leftist are all about race/class/gender. They say so. Often and loudly. And they’re socialists.

To learn racial socialism was repulsive cost tens of millions dead. To learn class socialism was repulsive cost tens of millions dead.

And now we have gender socialism. Millions—I hope not tens or hundreds of—will be die or be mutilated until we learn that gender socialism is evil.

If only there were something in common among race, class, and gender socialisms — what could it possibly be?
