Feminism, especially after the reaction to this Lindsay Clancy case, seems, increasingly, simply to be about the right to kill babies and children. That this is actually a rebellion against the feminine itself is worth noting; it is rage against the very thing that gives the movement its name.

    I suspect that envy is at the bottom of feminism. At this point, some degree of feminism has spread and become the default doctrine of most Western females, so the feminism of many of these females is rather pale and half-hearted. But envy seems to drive the true believers.

    I’m reminded of Aesop’s fable of the Dog and his Bone. A butcher, as you recall, gives a bone to a dog, and while crossing a bridge that dog sees another dog beneath the bridge with another bone. Envious of this other bone, the dog leaps at what is in fact his own reflection, drops his own bone into the stream, gets a dunking, and goes home hungry .

    I was just the other day talking to a woman who drank the feminist Kool Aid and is now about to turn sixty. She jumped at an illusory bone she could never possess and lost the bone that the kindly butcher we call God gave her. But unlike the dog in Aesop’s fable, I’m afraid she has not learned the moral of her story.

    I wonder if sexual envy is at the bottom when a full-grown man surprises his wife and children with the declaration that he has or will very shortly become a woman. A son of an acquaintance made such a declaration just the other day. Despite the current brave talk from his wife, I suppose he will lose the bone he has and fail to obtain the bone he envies.

    Envy is at the bottom of so much. Feminism. Socialism. Nihilism. Etc. Envy is vanity’s (pride’s) twin. The Greeks and Aquinas were well acquainted with the perilousness of both. They may actually be the deadliest of the 7, for the other 5 could well be described as the children of envy and vanity.

    There’s an old joke about “If woman ran the world”:

    If women ran the world, France would declare war on Germany because it saw the way it was looking at Italy. It knows what it did. It shouldn’t have to have been told.
