Well, our long weekend of music is over. It was exhausting — we had over a hundred tunes to work on — but it all went very well indeed, and we had a blast.
Fun fact: as some of you may know, one of the core members of our Shoal Survivors collective is Ray Castoldi, the music director of Madison Square Garden — who plays, not only at all the Knicks’ and Rangers’ home games, but also for the New York Mets, and, barring scheduling conflicts, for New York’s NFL teams as well. Well, in a not-quite-coincidence, the band was joined for Saturday night’s show by Ray’s friend Ed Alstrom, the organist for the Yankees! Ed’s a fantastic player, and so is his wife Maxine, who also performed. It was a historic event.
