We note that a British-owned ship has just been hijacked by pirates in the Gulf of Aden. This bears watching: the British, however much their star may have fallen in the world, do not fool around when it comes to matters naval, do not look kindly upon piracy, and will not have forgotten that it wasn’t all that long ago that their command of these waters was absolute.

Britain has laid some official groundwork. I seem to recall a post of your’s Malcolm portending something along these lines:
“Despite this authorization of expanded powers to interdict and detain pirates at sea, states have expressed frustration at the limited available options for prosecuting captured pirates. Thus Britain has entered into an agreement with Kenya to permit sea robbers captured by the Royal Navy to be tried in Kenyan courts.”

Yes, yes, but first we must find our navy. I’m sure we once had one but for the life of me I can’t remember where we put it. Still, we have oodles and oodles of outreach social workers. Perhaps we could send them, instead, and they could try and persuade these pirates to get in touch with their feminine side.
Do you suppose David, given Gordie’s mutifaceted toolkit (since obviously he’s been able to rescue your economy) he might rescue the ship too?
