You may read a lot of academic papers, but I doubt you’ve seen a better abstract than this.

Along with the fat grant research post earlier this post’s abstract got me thinking (don’t ask) about another abstract I recalled and subsequently posted the link for over on Anna Raccoon’s when she once had the temerity to question whether publicly funded research (in her scenario it was the GBP [great British public] was really of much utility. Unfortunately I can’t recall the title of her post thus, can’t easily locate a direct link.
However I can recall precisely what our Federals in DC granted four hundred thousand dollars worth of taxpayer provided largess in order to accurately measure;

I just wish I coulda got hold of a link to the Intellectual’s application for the grant in the first place.
JK, over on D&N there is a set too about immigration. I was tempted to post your fine link “Those who know” about migrations etc over there and give you a “hat tip”. But I refrained as your discovery is so good that I figured you might do the honors. If you please.
@ Whitewall, when things like that occur go ahead over on D&N (Dip’s they won’t know who JK is so no h/t) and it’s not actually necessary on David’s anyway.
Problem with me commenting is my *regular use browser* – takes me about 4 or so minutes to switch over so I can comment anywhere but on WordPress sites. Just fyi gen’ral speakin’ you understand.
JK, 4 minutes to switch it and start it huh? I used to have an old truck that was the same darn way.
JK, I bet I can find it if you can give me any more details. (I assume JK is not your username there.)
Thanks Anti, there tho I do use JK as you’ll be able to tell just under where I left “Typepad still sucks” (leaving links is the problem) … the link Whitewall mentions is in the post here and the post he refers to is this;

Well, I meant on Anna Raccoon’s, and I’ve looked at all your posts there (it’s not hard to do with Google) but don’t see any links posted by you for the kind of thing you’re talking about.

Well hell JK, I’ve tried twice and can’t make it post. I don’t know what’s up. Typepad must be having “emotional problems”.
Apologies Antiquarian – my comments at Anna’s place are few and my user IDs depend on some esoteric stuff … and there is the little factor of me not expressing with any great clarity etc.
Well Whitewall. I figure “all will be revealed” as the denizens of Somerset UK manage to wake sufficiently to check the spam. Allow to next week or so.
@ Whitewall,
Methinks Whiters maybe some members of the Five Eyes’d prefer our Brit counterparts not read from certain places. Fortunately there’s more’n the one way to skin cats.
JK I saw that. Good work.
About the abstract…maybe a philosophy was the cause of the crisis…so I guess I align with part D. Maybe a bit with B too. Well, a lot with part B. That makes me “anti intellectual”?
