For tonight, two videos.
The first shows you the state of the art of autonomous walking robots; I think you’ll agree that they are coming along nicely.
The second is a live-in-the-studio performance by the Fab Faux. If you haven’t heard of them, they are five of New York’s top session players (including the ubiquitous bass ace and studio joculist Will Lee, who has enriched and enlivened more than a few of my own sessions over the decades) who got together a few years ago to play the music of the Beatles as well as anyone possibly can. It went so well that they’ve been doing it ever since, all over the world.
In this clip they play Side Two of Abbey Road: no overdubs, no auto-tune, no studio hanky-panky, just five amazing musicians playing music they love. This is a real treat, folks. Here.

Malcolm. Really appreciate your timing getting me the clip available past my 10pm volumn limit.
Of course I can’t actually blame you for the $650.00 cash bond I had to put up for disturbing my neighbors – after all I didn’t turn my volumn up until the second run-thru. But damn, can’t you begin posting around the time our Korean friends post?
At least figure out some means to restrict access to Arkansas until “decent hours?”
I did ask the cop what precisely decent hours constituted for Arkansas.
His reply?
“Ask Bill Clinton.”
“Hell,” I said, “He’s a New Yorker.”
“It doesn’t matter old man, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Would you mind opening your screen door?”
“Being this is a dry county, wouldn’t that make me guilty of public drunkeness too?”
“Seems you’ve run into this problem before. I’ll slide your invitation to appear under the door if you’ll slide a check, signed of course.”
Still – I’m gonna require a character witness.
Thanks for the Fab Faux link. These guys are obviously having a lot of fun playing tight and clean. Studio Musicians Rule!
