The Cassini probe of Saturn has sent back a striking photograph of the planet’s northern polar region, taken in the infrared portion of the spectrum. It reveals a startling feature: an enormous hexagonal standing wave girdling the pole. You’ve never seen Saturn like this; you can see the image here.
