    For that HRP-4C Humanoid Robot, it seems the lips have nothing to do with the actual singing. I was watching what was going to happen during bilabial stops like “b” and “m,” and the lips never closed. (Of course, they didn’t do much of anything else, either– no tightening, etc.) What’ll be more exciting is when we figure out how to create synthetic lungs and speech organs.

    As for that final vid… what’s with the quasi-bovine vocalizations? Was that supposed to be crying? Why not just use actual infant sounds, in that case?

    Yeah, that was really weird. I think it was supposed to be the mom, not the baby. Maybe the audio was shifted down for some reason.

    The quality of this stuff is going to accelerate very, very quickly, I think.
